FOI release

FOI request - funfairs

Case reference FOI2025/00391

Received 19 June 2025

Published 2 July 2025

Request

1: Between April 2015 and March 2025 how many reports/complaints did the council receive about travelling/temporary funfairs or funfair rides (such as those held at events like festivals/music concerts/fireworks displays etc)?

2. Of those complaints for the time frame above, can you break this number down to solely those relating to a person being injured or hurt by rides, games or activities at travelling/temporary funfairs or funfair-style attractions. Where possible please list the date of the incident, the nature of the complaint and where in the district/borough it took place.

I appreciate any formal investigations would be carried out by the HSE (which I have made similar requests to) but as the local authority likely to have granted permission for such public events, I'm also trying to establish how many complaints from members of the public, councils simply receive or process each year.

We received one noise complaint in the period requested and that was related to the equipment being used, i.e. generators.

No information held. We would not have any information on accidents at funfairs/temporary funfair or rides, as you have already identified this would be HSE.
